What We Do

Atlanta Tow Truck Services

From a stalled car on I-285 to a commercial vehicle that will not start in a warehouse lot, our trucks are equipped to handle a wide range of towing situations across Atlanta. Browse every option on our services page.

Emergency Towing

A breakdown, accident, or vehicle that will not start needs a direct response. When you call, we ask for your exact location, vehicle type, and what happened, then send the closest available truck. This service covers dead batteries, accidents where the vehicle cannot be driven safely, and mechanical failures that happen without warning on a highway shoulder, in a parking lot, or on a residential street. You will get a call or text update once a driver is on the way, so you are not left guessing how long the wait will be.

Flatbed Towing

Flatbed towing lifts the entire vehicle off the ground onto a flat trailer bed instead of pulling it on two wheels the way older tow trucks did. This method is generally used for all wheel drive vehicles, lowered or modified cars, vehicles with transmission problems, and most electric vehicles, since towing certain EV models with the wheels on the ground can damage the motor. Our drivers confirm the correct method for your specific vehicle before loading, since the right approach always depends on the car itself. Flatbed trucks are also used for short moves, such as taking a car that will not start from a driveway to a repair shop.

Winch-Out Services

When a vehicle slides off the road into a ditch, median, or soft shoulder, which happens more often near the Chattahoochee River corridor after heavy rain, our winch equipment can pull it back onto solid ground without adding further damage. This service is assessed on site, since the right approach depends on how the vehicle is positioned and whether the ground underneath it is stable enough to work safely.

Light Duty Towing

Sedans, small trucks, and SUVs make up most of the calls we take on a typical day. These are usually handled with standard wheel lift equipment or a flatbed, depending on the vehicle's drivetrain and condition, and are generally the fastest tows to complete since the loading process is more straightforward than a heavy duty or recovery call.

Rotator Services

Some accident scenes involve a vehicle that has overturned, landed in an embankment, or ended up in a position that standard tow equipment cannot reach. Our rotator trucks use a rotating crane to lift and reposition a vehicle safely before it is loaded and removed, which reduces the risk of further damage during a complex recovery.

Equipment Hauling

Construction and industrial equipment sometimes needs to be moved between job sites around Atlanta. We haul this kind of equipment with the correct trailers and load securing methods for its size and weight, following standard safety procedures for oversized loads.

Heavy Duty Towing

Box trucks, buses, and other large commercial vehicles require different equipment than a standard car. Our heavy duty trucks use rotator and heavy wrecker equipment built for higher weight loads and larger frames, and this service is used often for fleet breakdowns near the airport and the warehouse district along Fulton Industrial Boulevard.

Recovery Services

After an accident, a vehicle may end up in a position where it cannot be driven or towed the normal way, such as against a guardrail or partly blocking a lane. Every recovery is assessed on site, since the right approach depends on the vehicle's position, the surrounding ground conditions, and whether it can still roll or steer once freed.

Commercial Services

Businesses operating delivery vans, service vehicles, or a small fleet can set up an account with us for faster dispatch and consolidated monthly billing instead of paying per call. This keeps a business's own vehicles moving without added downtime, and it is a separate arrangement from private property towing, which deals with vehicles that do not belong to the business.

Moving / Relocation

Some situations call for moving several vehicles at once, such as clearing a parking lot for repaving, relocating inventory for a dealership, or moving vehicles during a property renovation. We coordinate these larger moves separately from single vehicle tows, since they usually require scheduling in advance rather than same day dispatch.

Roadside Assistance

Jump starts, lockouts, flat tire changes, and fuel delivery are also available without needing a full tow in many cases. If a driver determines on site that the vehicle cannot be safely driven, the call can be converted into a tow without you needing to call again.

Private Property Towing & Impound Services

We remove unauthorized vehicles from apartment complexes, retail lots, and business properties under Georgia's private property towing statute, O.C.G.A. Section 44-1-13. Georgia law requires the property to post signage listing the towing company's name, phone number, and fees, and it requires the towing company to register with the Georgia Department of Public Safety before performing this type of tow. These rules exist to protect vehicle owners from being charged unpredictable fees after an unauthorized tow, and they apply regardless of which company performs the work. Property managers who need this service regularly can set up a standing agreement rather than calling for each individual incident, which also keeps signage and paperwork consistent across a property.

Tow truck on a service call in Atlanta

Fast Response

Trucks are dispatched based on your location and current traffic conditions. Response on I-285 itself can take longer during peak hours, since INRIX's 2025 Global Traffic Scorecard named I-285 the most congested corridor in the Atlanta region.

Professional Drivers

Our drivers are trained on safe loading procedures across vehicle types, from standard cars to motorcycles and heavy commercial vehicles, and are familiar with the roads and highways they cover every day, from downtown streets to the outer Perimeter. Knowing the local roads matters, since a driver unfamiliar with Atlanta traffic patterns can add unnecessary delay to an already stressful situation.

24/7 Availability

We operate every day of the year, including holidays, nights, and weekends. A call at 3 in the morning gets the same response as one in the middle of the afternoon, since breakdowns do not follow a schedule and neither does our dispatch line.

Service Coverage

We cover the city of Atlanta and the surrounding metro area, along with the major highways that run through it, including I-285, I-75, I-85, and I-20. Full details are listed in our service area section below, and if your location is not specifically mentioned there, calling to confirm coverage only takes a minute.

Fully Equipped Tow Trucks

Our fleet includes flatbeds, wheel lift wreckers, and heavy duty rotators, inspected on a regular schedule to keep equipment reliable for every type of call, from a routine sedan tow to a complex accident recovery.

Affordable Rates

You receive a total estimated cost by phone before a truck is dispatched, not after your vehicle is already loaded.

What Affects The Price

A few factors change the final cost of a tow. Distance matters, since pricing typically includes a base hook up fee plus a per mile rate once the truck leaves the yard. Vehicle size matters, since a heavy duty tow needs larger equipment than a standard car. Time of day can matter too, since some calls outside normal hours carry a small added charge. If your vehicle is towed from private property without your consent, Georgia law limits what can be charged, and rates for this type of tow are set under a statewide tariff enforced by the Georgia Department of Public Safety.

Vehicle Guide

How Each Vehicle Gets Towed

The method depends on the drivetrain, how low the car sits, and whether it can roll. Here is the usual choice for each vehicle type.

Vehicle TypeUsual MethodWhy
Sedan, small truck, or SUVWheel lift or flatbedThe most common tow. The drivetrain and condition decide between the two.
All wheel drive vehicleFlatbedKeeping all four wheels off the road protects the drivetrain.
Electric vehicleFlatbedSome electric models can be damaged by towing with the wheels on the road.
Lowered or modified carFlatbedLow front ends need careful loading, and a flatbed gives the driver the most control.
Car with transmission troubleFlatbedRolling the wheels can add damage to a transmission that already has a problem.
Box truck, bus, or large commercial vehicleHeavy duty wreckerHigher weight and larger frames need equipment built for the load.

Overheated Sedan on the I-285 Shoulder

Case Study 01 · Emergency Flatbed Towing

Overheated Sedan on the I-285 Shoulder

A commuter’s sedan overheated in evening traffic on the I-285 Perimeter and stopped on a narrow shoulder. We asked for the nearest exit and mile marker, told the driver to stay buckled in with the hazards on, and sent a flatbed. The car was loaded without being driven another foot and delivered to the repair shop the owner picked.

Result: The driver stayed safe until the truck arrived, and the engine took no extra damage because it was never driven again.

Atlanta towing

Case Study 02 · Heavy Duty Towing

Disabled Box Truck at a South Atlanta Warehouse

A delivery box truck lost air pressure and could not leave a loading dock near the airport corridor. A standard wrecker could have damaged the drivetrain, so we sent a heavy duty unit with the right rating and worked out gate access and dock timing with the warehouse manager before the truck pulled in.

Result: The truck left the dock without blocking other deliveries and went straight to a commercial repair shop.

SUV Stuck in a Ditch After Heavy Rain

Case Study 03 · Winch-Out Service

SUV Stuck in a Ditch After Heavy Rain

After a night of heavy rain, an SUV slid off a soft shoulder into a ditch near the Chattahoochee River. Driving a tow truck onto wet ground could have made things worse, so the operator checked the slope, anchored the winch line to solid ground, and pulled the SUV back onto the pavement slowly and in a straight line.

Result: The SUV was back on solid pavement without a second tow, and the owner decided after a quick check whether to drive on or tow.

What Atlanta Drivers Say

Tow truck responding to an emergency in Atlanta

About Rapid Towing Atlanta

Rapid Towing Atlanta was founded in 2021 by two brothers. Neither of us came from the towing industry. We started this because of a bad experience being stranded and waiting on a tow that never showed up on time, and being treated like just another job number instead of a person who needed help.

That’s what got us started. We bought our first truck, got licensed and insured to operate in Georgia, and began taking calls around metro Atlanta ourselves. We started with 1 truck. Today we run a fleet of 6 trucks, and the team has grown along with it. What hasn’t changed is why we started: we wanted towing done right, fast, honest, and with the driver treated like a person, not a ticket number. Read our full story.

Our Team

Our drivers are background checked and trained on safe loading procedures across vehicle types, from standard cars to motorcycles and heavy commercial vehicles. They know the roads and highways they cover every day, from downtown surface streets to the outer Perimeter.
